Welcome to the forum mkontos,

Congratulations on the S-Type.

A number of options can be activated / deactivated by the Jaguar Dealer. This one is 'Global Opening'. If it is fitted and activated, you must press and hold the Unlock button for more than 2 seconds to make it work.

Follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the Europe Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in mainland Europe.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum mkontos,

Good to have you with us.
That feature, global closing, does not work on the pre 2003 S Types as they had no safety clutch.
It should work if you put the key in the door and hold it in the lock position.
Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't already done so you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
