New member, central London: swapped my mental-but-harsh Mercedes A200 Turbo for an S-Type 2.7 diesel twin-turbo sport: 2006, 80,000 miles, black with oatmeal leather and very nice black carpets. Already completely sold on it after coming home from buying it and getting 52 mpg - the poor old A200 never got better than 35...

Will be playing about with iPod plugs (since the CD-Changer in the S-Type is looong gone) and possibly a remap - but first I have to do about 1,500 miles in a week, right down to Munich and back. That should knock the bugs out!

S-Type is a great way to get out of London and return trip to Munich next week is a great way to get to know the car.

As well as the S-Type section, check the Audio / Visual Electronics section for ideas on upgrading the sound system.

Thanks Graham and Jamey. This is a trip I know very well, so a comparative between the big Merc (E500 estate) and the S-Type is definitely on the cards. If I get good progress in the morning then there's the option of a stop at the Nurburgring, too. Though I ain't going on the track!!!
