Please let me introduce myself...
My name is Frank Vinciguerra. I live in Londonderry, NH. I own a 2004 Jaguar X type and the lease is running out at the end of April, 2007. I have a buyer interested in assuming a new leasefor 36 months, releaving me of my 3 month obligation), through www.Swapalease.com.
I am in the process of purchasing a Jaguar XK8 with only $30,200 miles on it in Miami, FL.There's a problem with the driver's side window regulator.I need to purchase and install a new regulator which costs about $250 for the new part and $250 for the labor. I'd love to be able to fix this problem for less than $500 if possible and could use some advice.
I'm looking for a facility to check out the vehicle in the Miami area for less than $375 if possible before I go through with the purchase.
Lastly, I am not too sure how to transport the vehicle from Miami to the Boston, MAarea. One quote is for $485 but many other transporters tell me it will cost $600 to $700 for the transport or the vehicle will not be moved for weeks until they fill a transporter.
Any advice on any of these subjects would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Frank

Hi Frank and welcome....
I think if you ask around some local repair shops you may get a better deal on fixing that window...but you will risk the chance of possible further damage from a non jaguar dealer (Jags tend to be a differnt beast) and if you don't know what you're doing...the damaged caused afterwards may not be worth the 100 you saved...
once again, have a Jag dealer look over the car....they know where the problems are..or where to look....i would spend the extra to be sure that my ride is not a lemon...
Transporting your auto...so many different companies out there...do a google search for vehicle transporting and find a local company.....you can get 3 differnt quotes just by sitting there and making a few phone calls in 20 minutes or less...
Good luck..

Hello, I am a new member as well. I have purchased 2 cars in the last 4 years and driven them halfacross the country. I don't know a better way to get to know my new car. It has been a fun and exciting mini trip for both my wife and I both . Check with some Indy shop in Miami for a quote. Good Luck!

Thanks for the good advice RacerX82. Hey, I have another question for ya... I'm torn between paying $1800 for a 4 year warrentee ona 2001 Jaguar XK8 with 30,600 miles and saving the $1800 and going without a safety net.
Did you purchase a warrentee for your car? What year is your car? How many miles? Do you know if I can purchase a less expensive warrentee?
Cheers,
Frank
