Hi, just joined forum my name is Don need help have just purchased a Jaguar XKR convertable 2007, had it a week on Sunday it was really cold and frosty started it up and had a knocking from the very front of the engine. Went away after driving for a couple of miles but it sounded like a ticking in the cockpit while driving? Went to start it again on Monday morning had the same knocking from the front of the engine gave it a big rev and it went away? Would appreciate any input I have a Jaguar 1 years warrenty with the car have taken it back to where I brought it for them to look at but I am reading alot about the XKR knocking when cold. Is this a common fault on these models it only has 42,000 on the clock and full Jaguar service history a bit worried I might have brought a dog! It drives like a dream.

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Don.
Try asking your question in your technical section here
XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
but XKR's shouldn't knock when cold.
There's a UK Regional section too

Good luck getting your problem sorted.

Welcome to the forum Don,

Congratulations on the XKR.

Knocking on any Jaguar engine always raises alarm bells with me. We've had a particularly cold snap on the east coast over the last week but that shouldn't have opened up clearances sufficiently for undue mechanical noises on startup. You're right to query this whilst covered by warranty.

Follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
