Wink undecided

just drove my first jag yesterday and i am sold. trying to decide on which used vehicle to buy. Have narrowed down to the s-type and have two i am looking at. one is a 2004 and the other is a 2005. $1000 difference in cost. is one a lot better than the other? also, have read about a lot of maintenance issues. any help would be appreciated.

welcome df!! There really is not much difference between the 2 MYs (model years). What motors, mileage? If they are online post up the links in the "S Section" and sit back. The fellows there will help you decide.

As far as maintenance issues, there are a couple but if you are a DIYer (take it from me) most are pretty easy fixes or at the least possible to do working on your back .
If your not comfortable turning wrenches besure to find one with an extended warranty, one repair can pay for the cost of the warranty.

Be sure to read the "FAQ" in the "S Section" as well.

Welcome to the forum,

Good advice above. Post 2003 is generally reccomended as that was when the facelift model was introduced with a lot of problems resolved from the previous incarnation.

Welcome to the forum. You did good by coming here first, pre-buy! Wish I'd done it that way. Guys over in the S-type section will surely weigh-in on your possible targets and even equip you with some mkt-value help, most likely.

No...but one IS a lot prettier than the other...... as Rick said, regarding durability....Redesign for 2003 MY (Norri said "Post-2003" which is also correct as overseas the change was mid-year, but all US market 2003 and sub are of that genre) fixed a lot of the earlier problems and changed a few others, then there was minor face-lift for the US 2005 MY and since Rick doesn't get to see them (Pre, and Post-face-lift) side-by-side on a regular basis....he may not realize one sister is waaay hotter.....
