Default Upstate New York

I have been a member for over a year and have gotten some good advice/answers but realize I have never posted here in the intro. My wife and I are car people and she is especially a "Jag car girl." We (she) has a 1984 XJ6, 2005 XJ6 and recently and still in the garage, a 2006 XJ8. Funny thing happened a year ago; we bought the 2005 XJ6 from a sales guy who worked at Keeler in Albany, New York. It was a private sale because he purchased it from the owner turning it in on a lease... like most of us it's hard to turn down a good deal and after realizing he had too many vehicles (sounds familiar) he posted it in the Want Ads. We bought it and she was quite content with it... the '05 XJ but I purchased a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V... to make a long story short she thought it would be cool to have two black caddy's so she traded it for a 2009 SRX and the whining ensued. I was getting my V out this past spring and the "whining got worse... lol Anyway, I took the car, unbeknownst to her to a dealership in CT and traded it for a white XJ8... brought it home and she has vowed to be a loyal Jag owner from here on out... Now she's planting the seed in my head to get an XK... problem is, my V is a powerful car and the XK's are sexy fast... now I'm confused

Anyway, thanks for the previous support and I intend to check in from time to time for socializing... hopefully some good advice and hopefully not mechanical advice... I’ve added pics in my profile of my V but I have to wait ‘till spring for the Jag… it’s snug in its car bag for the winter.

Default Thanks for the welcome..

Norri…” I am pleased to hear that you managed to cure your whinning problem. My wife is an Upstate girl too from Saugerties.”
Wow Norri, we’re in Claverack… small world. Yeah, now that she has a/her Jag it’s just the usual whining that comes with the territory (sadly, hers as well as mine… I always want to mod my V as I live by the bigger is better motto…lol).

I noticed the courteous conversations that take place here… definitely not the same on the other car forums I frequent. I’ve received much valuable advice since I’ve been a member here… mouse nest in my air box a year ago this past June as well as other info I’ve read while looking at other posts. Thanks for the upgrade and I intend to frequent this board more in the future… who knows, I might pull the trigger on an XKR yet (refer back to the bigger is better motto… lol).

Cadillac…”Hello, I hope your new rides will serve you well and no more whining…”
So far so good… love your screen name by the way. I’ve owned my CTS-V for two years this coming January and have full enjoyed “her” XJ8 also. I’ve made reference to how the Jag is a “pleasure” to drive with somewhat comparable performance… (now she really doesn't want me to drive it "alone"). I am just addicted to jamming gears in my V and seeing the reactions of people standing next to “grandpa’s Cadillac when the engine fires or the PO’ed people following me thinking they are following “just another Cadillac” how wrong they are.
Again, thanks for the warm welcome and I'll be talking to all time to time...
Paul
