So guys, what do you think is best ? Here are some specs:

PORSCHE:
ENGINE-3.3 FUEL INJECTION TURBO
BHP-320

JAGUAR:
ENGINE-4.0 I6
BHP-238

So, theres almost 100BHP difference between the two but I still think the XJS is the true 90s sports-coupé. What do you think ?

 

100HP not to be sneezed at all but let's not forget BMW M6 is also more powerful than carrera as much as 100 HP but lap times tell a different story .
It's about how effectively you use your extra horsepower rather than how powerful you are .
In your case, I reckon Porrsche Turbo should beat XJS

 

Apples and oranges. The Jag clearly leans more towards luxury while the Porsche is more of a raw, high performance sports car.

A better comparison would be the XJS against any one of several BMW or Mercedes sports/luxury coupes.

Yeah I know Doug. But I chose those two cos they were completely different and wanted to see what one you would buy! Raw power or Luxury ?

 

I like the XJS, but its a bit too quirky for me to pick it over one of my all-time favorite sports cars (the 911). I think you should compare 1996 models and 6.0 V12 XJS verses a 993 series 911 Turbo. The 6.0 XJS' and the 993 911s were my favorite of both models.

 

In my book I'd take the 911 hands down. The XJS looks old and dated, but not yet classic. The 911 is the epitome of classic. I'm certain the 911 would outperform the XJS. It would be a blast to drive. Heck, it has more power than my XK8 and it's lighter. I bet on a road track the 911 would outperform the XKR, and the R has about 70 extra horsepower to play with.

 

Porsche.

 

For the cost of the 1990 Porshe I would get a C5 vette and smoke the Porshe all day.
