2013 Ford Fusion
Looks like Ford has a real game-changer with the new Fusion. Why copy Jaguar when you can copy Aston Martin:

There may be some sleepless nights at Toyota and Honda.

I'm wondering if they shouldn't have named it Con-Fusion.
I spent a little time wandering the website, but did not find performance figures for this gem. Except for estimated, 62 mph on batteries.
IMHO, far too many ifs and buts, in the description.
And if Eco fuel economy is a main selling target, their own figures are not brilliant, they also do not seem to show performance data, just projected, estimated, anticipated, MPG, but I didn't see under what conditions, OR, if I have a car that resembles an XK or an AM am I likely to be driving the rrrrse of the 1.6?
Nothing against innovation and certainly nothing against Ford but, I do think that this web-text could have been better thought out before going public.
Gi's a job,
The 1.6-liter EcoBoost unit delivers a projected 179 horsepower and is expected to achieve top-rated fuel efficiency of 26 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost performance option will provide an estimated 237 horsepower and is projected to return 23 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway.
For buyers seeking the lowest initial cost, Fusion offers a 2.5-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder engine, making an estimated 170 horsepower. This will provide anticipated fuel efficiency of 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

This is a *pre-launch* website for the 2013 model, hence the all qualifiers on the various specs: at this point, ifs-and-buts are entirely appropriate. All Ford is doing is trying to generate some preliminary buzz on the car. Having said that, I don't think the final specs will be much different than some of the numbers quoted here. I am not terribly interested in all the green adtalk - what has my attention is the 2.0 EcoBoost with 237 HP and 250 lb-ft torque - enuf said.
This car will be the new Mondeo in the UK market. The US finally gets to catch up with the Euro Mondeo, and that is not a bad thing!
