C8 Corvette Reveal 7/18 8pm
So with looks & styling aside,
Performance-wise, for $60K, we can buy either base:
- 295 hp , 4 cylinder, F-type (don't know 0 - 60 time, but the 6 cylinder does it in 5.1 sec)
or
- 495 hp, 8 cylinder, C8 Corvette, 0 - 60 under 3 sec
If I want a V8 F-type with 550hp, we must spend $100K +, to go 3.8 sec 0 - 60
Can only imagine what the $80K C8 Corvette ZO6 will do...

I don't think many f type owners have 0-60 time as a top priority. Personally I could've spent significantly less for a significantly faster 0-60 than what I have (don't know don't care but I know it's not scorching).
I think that's right, looks and noise are the main priority. I dont mind the looks of the 'vette though I'm not creaming my jeans over it by any means, I've never seen a mid engined car to get excited over bar the XJ220. And I have to say that from the Leno clip the sound of the car was a little understated for my tastes.
Personally I'd be happy if Jag popped a small bore NA v8 in the F Type like the old 4.2. That one sounded beautiful even though it was actually pretty slow. It was pretty thirsty though, comparative to performance. I think it was that engine that evolved to Aston's 4.7 which is my favorite sounding engine.

I think that is a very accurate generalization.
Vettes are always desirable. Performance. Cost. Availability. Panache. The issue is that the desirability declines when you get really close. The dimensions get tight. The finishes get inexpensive. The technology is old. The styling is weak. But having said that I was blown away with the 60K base price. A lot of people will legitimately say for half price I can do without the European sophistication.
I wasn't going to say it. But... agreed. Something about Vette's... Can't quite pinpoint it, but they're never seemed appealing to me.

[/ QUOTE]
It seems that people are wrong with this in all parts of the world ... The 0-60 of less than 3 seconds is for the C8 Z ... The basic model will not get that time.

The Z part is correct, but it's the "Z51 package", not Z06. The Z51 package adds performance tires which likely allows the tires to hook up better for the 0-60 run.

La parte Z es correcta, pero es el "paquete Z51", no Z06. El paquete Z51 agrega neumáticos de rendimiento que probablemente permiten que los neumáticos se enganchen mejor para la carrera 0-60. [/ QUOTE]
I did not know that Z was, that's why I did not put it
.
It takes a lot of cvs and grip to get off 3 seconds. The basic model does not think it goes below 3.4.

Yep- Z51 package AND with the performance exhaust. I have not read any performance figures for the car that costs "under $60,000"
I'm not a huge Corvette fan, and the true numbers will be seen once the car gets into reviewer hands, but performance wise it appears GM has done some magic yet again.
Look at the comment on the video in the post...

I No soy un gran fanático de Corvette, y los verdaderos números se verán una vez que el auto llegue a las manos del revisor, pero en cuanto al rendimiento, parece que GM ha hecho algo de magia una vez más.

2.8... But it can not be for the basic. It will be for the Z of more than 700 hp!

As mentioned above, that is the current quoted specs for the base model with the Z51 package. There has been no announcement of any specs or details of models for the C8 currently other than the base model Stingray.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
U have your Z's mixed up.
It's:
Base + Z51
Z06
ZR1
For the C7, it's 460, 650 & 750 hp respectively
For the C8 it's 495, ?, ?
So far just the $60K Base coupe being discussed, not convertible, not Z06 nor Z51 yet....
