I'm restoring a very early Ultima from the 80s, and am contemplating an engine swap. It seems a Jag V8 (say an AJ8 or one of its variants) might fit, but with the Ultima being rear-engined, the question is how to adapt a transaxle to it. Do these engines share a bell housing bolt pattern with anything else? I ask because there are existing transaxle adapter plates available for other engines. The ironic thing is years ago I owned an engine-swapped E-type that had a Ford V8 in it, but now would be going in the opposite direction. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
