Thanks! This car is very special to three generations of us. This summer it will be used in the Michigan Gumball Rally. If I'm going to put some miles on it may as well make it worthwhile.

Cheers

1987 Shelby Lancer. Started life as a fully optioned Dodge Lancer, 800 of which were shipped to Carroll Shelby's Whittier CA facility. Carroll added a slew of upgrades to it to make it a Euro-fighter. It received the necessary 80's era graphics and ground effects, an air to air intercooler, Monroe shocks and struts, his own design lace wheels, a top end Pioneer CD player, speakers and amps (first production car with a CD player), his own steering wheel and numbered dash plaque. 400 were autos with leather, 400 5-speeds with cloth like ours. There were a few mix and match leather/5-speeds. It produced 175hp which by today's standards is pretty paltry but think back to '87 and that was pretty impressive. The 2.2 is very receptive to mods and there are guys in the Turbo Dodge community that make insane power with them. I'm sure most everyone is familiar with the Omni GLHS, this was the "refined" version.
Here's a fun video of what some of the Turbo Dodge guys can do to agitate the masses

I actually sold for a Chrysler/ Plymouth/ Dodge/ Dodge truck dealership when these were new. In stock, aka. non-Shelby form, they were formidable competition. What a beauty you have there!

I would be happy to post pictures of this car after the rally (end of august) on this thread for anyone who's interested. I'm tearing the motor down here in the next few weeks to address a turbocharger issue, I might bring it closer to current performance car horsepower standards while I'm at it.

Please do if you'd like. It's no Jag but a car project nevertheless!
