REGOLITH: SS100 RepliMod
Started in 2018 by Larry Rathburn, this SS100 project now has a new direction.
I present: Rᴇɢᴏʟɪᴛʜ
Copied from my build page:
The project as it sits was Larry Rathburn's final project before he passed. It was at Bruce Elder's showroom for a long while, before I got talked into buying it last month by Brian Rhodes of Antique and Classic Automobiles. To be honest though, he didn't need to do much convincing. Larry did a nice job on the frame, body structure, and sourcing parts. It's an excellent starting point. There are very few areas that need reworking, and I'm excited to put my own ideas into it. One of the biggest changes is where Larry was modeling it after a 1939 production model, I'm going for the 1937 rally style of car DYL 469, often number 15.
If you're a Jag purist: look away. This is not a remake, rebuild, or 1:1 replica. It was started by a hot rod builder, and is being continued by someone who's never built anything like this. The engine and transmission are from a mid-90s Jeep Cherokee, the suspension is from (what I believe to be) an MKE, and after that, who knows. And the styling of this car will be unique. It may look like an SS100 from across the lot, but I'm planning on making this my own aesthetic, right down to the needles on the gauges.
I'll be posting more to my blog, but I wanted to get set up here for very specific Jaguar-related questions.
I'm looking forward to this build!
