1960's S-Type for sale
Hi,
I have up for sale an 1960's Jaguar S type, I will not be going ahead with the restoration of this and will focus my time and effort on the MK2 Jaguars I have instead.
The car is complete, and has been dry stored for the last 10 years.
I recently gave it a quick clean down and inspection to see why it was parked up, and with the carbs being removed and the wiring to the starter removed, my assumption is the starter motor is toast.
So I'm going to finish this job, remove and rebuild the starter, reattach it and check it works as supposed to, refit the carbs, and check over the rest of the car to see if I can get it running. The condition it is in, I feel that it wont take much work.
Being a mechanic, this isn't an issue and shouldn't take too long if I focus my spare time on it.
Anyway, the details of the car from what I can tell are as followed, it was originally a 3.4 with manual overdrive, now it has a later 4.2Litre engine and manual trans, the engine still has the cartridge filter and twin carbs, so I'm thinking it's a series1 XJ6 motor.
The trans needs the selector bushes replaced as its sloppy, but all gears select. No pools of oil under the car from the ten years it has been sitting there.
The interior is complete, but the seats need recovering, wood is complete, the only evident rust are a few tiny bubbles in the passenger rear door that I noticed, the rear left quarter's paint is cracking though, and the whole car needs a good cut and polish, I'd suggest a paint rejuvenation starting with 1000grit.
All chrome work is straight excellent and a polish should bring it back to its former glory.
Nothing missing from what I can tell.
It's on Gumtree currently, but I will get some photos up here shortly too.

I'm asking $6,000 but I'm open to offers, part trades such as MK2 parts OR form work for a shed to hold and restore the MK2's
