hello everyone my father just got a 2002 s type 3.0 (against my better judgement). its having a problem and its a security system i think. It wont start unless you turn the key on and off alot than it will start. I told him key needs replaced and reprogrammed to the right hz. Is that whats wrong or is their something else wrong?

Then we can get on with the business of helping your dad get his S-type sorted. I'm personally a bit foggy on the pre-facelift (MY2002 and earlier) models but off the top of my head I believe you've given him bad gouge. Is the PATs light flashing?

 

Guessing at cause and solution will cause a person to dislike just about any brand of car.

Does the engine at least turn over when the key is turned to start?
