Default 2000 s-type (V-8)

How often should the transmission be serviced?
It says nothing in the handbook.
Thanks

I would have it done at 50K. You do need a machine to pump out the old fluid and pump in the replacement fluid.

They are supposed to be "fill for life"......but we all know that never lasts with leaks, and persistant issues with that transmission. There is no interval for servicing that trans nor is there a dipstick to check the fluid level. Service it whenever you feel necessary, but pumping out the fluid is a waste of money, IMO. Just drain the fluid, remove pan, replace filter, re use gasket,(yes re use it), and fill er up. The fill plug is at the rear of the trans on the tail shaft housing, and the fluid check is the drain bolt assy....there is a small allen head to remove out of the middle of the drain plug assy. The trans should be at about 100F and fluid dribbling out of the middle of the drain plug assy. Good luck.
