2001 S-Type misfire
My car has been coming up with error code 1388 and sometimes 1383. The car seemed to drive pretty well and i found a few TSBs about the codes being false and being fixed by reprogramming the PCM with new software.
I had the dealership do that and they were surprised it worked and they agreed it got rid of the codes and no check engine light. the car drove well but after a few trips my battery died , i replaced it and soon after the codes came back. my car drives pretty well but you can hear a slight misfire in the timing and the dealership agreed..
i think it may be the ignition coils or wiring...
the dealership also thought someone may have used an after-market ignition coil that the car "doesn't like" and may cause an occasional misfire. they recommended driving and monitoring it but i think i should have the coils and wiring inspected further for misfire/ electrical problems...
Anyone with similar problems / Advice???

If you use a scan tool it might tell you in which bank the misfire occurs. You could swap that coil with another bank and reset the codes. Drive around and see if the code comes back and if the bank changed with the coil then you might need to replace it.
