Default 2003 S-Type - Boot Liner "T" Hook

Skipping all the preliminaries, I have the 'same' problem with a stuck fuel door and I see a lot of Posts address this issue. Solution seems simple to me.

Where I am having an issue is the removal of the Boot Liner on the fuel door side. Not sure where it went, but the emergency release cord is not hanging in its' normal spot. I suspect that it is 'hiding' behind the liner?

When I begin the process to remove the Line is am immediate stymied by the removal of the "T" hook at the top of the liner.

Anyone know how to remove this hanger/hook? It does not appear to simply screw in or out.

Thank you in advance!

The fastener is internally threaded and screws onto a stud on the bodywork. It is possible the fastener threads are stripped as they are plastic.

Yes, I found that turning it counter-clockwise while also pulling on it a bit will unscrew it. Don't pull too hard or you might strip its plastic threads for sure. It's basically just a giant plastic wing nut.

Well, this is depressing. I got the liner off, but there is no Emergency Cord and I can't even figure out how to get to the door. Does that require removal of the wheel well liner?
