I have a 2003 S type. I recently had to replace the connector cable from the left to right side hood latches. Both work fine. The problem is that the inside hood release lever hangs straight down instead of returning to its proper position. Any ideas? Don't think cable from dash to left latch stretched.

 

Solved problem of hood release lever hanging down. There is a small coil return spring that pulls lever back into position. Spring was pulled out of position by quick lube tech. Took a little effort to get lever assembly out and reposition spring.
