I've been trying for a while to get the crankshaft pulley bolt loose on a 2005 Jaguar STR engine. Can someone confirm if it loosens clockwise or counter-clockwise? I've seen someone say counter-clockwise to loosen, and some say if the bolt has a certain stamping it is clockwise to loosen.

 

On my ‘02 V6, that bolt had standard right hand threads. I’d imagine your later model would be the same.

It took a BIG impact gun to break that bolt loose. I was unable to budge it by hand with a breaker bar:
