Default 2005 S Type will crank but not start

Need some help our 2005 jaguar has been running great, until last week the wife fueled it up and parked it. I attempted to start it later and it ran for a few seconds then shut off, now it will crank but not start. I have checked the fuses for the fuel pump and ignition and coils they checked fine. Replaced fuel filter and fuel cap the fuel pump apears to be working as I had the wife turn the key while I was replacing the filter.... any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Robert-

Welcome to the forum. It's going to be tough to try and figure this out without some more information.

V6 or V8?

Do you have a pressure gauge or a scanner that can read your fuel rail pressure?

I'm hoping that what you can get your hands on is the scanner..

If we can get to the PID data we can check fuel pressure AND crank signal at the same time.

Sorry been down with the flu... I plugged my scanner in and the only code present is low pressure on common rail.

The fuel system specifications for the X200/202 are listed above. Test the fuel pressure and compare it to what's shown. It's possible you have a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump.

hey Robert, reading your post you said you replaced fuel pump. Did you do it yourself? If so, I have to ask how you got the quick connects off the top of pump? I’m in the process of replacing my fuel pump (02 S-Type) and I can’t for the life of me get the white hose to release. I have new pump ready to go, I just can’t access the the pump motor until that white connector is released!
