AC doesn't work at low RPMs.
To OP,
If your compressor need the TSB procedure done(.ie reverse spring and valve on the compressor), at idle you will see high low-side pressure.
If your engine was sped above 1500rpm you will see the pressure drop. Not recommended to do with car on jack stands for obvious reasons.
Brutal recommends doing the TSB, that's what I would do if I were in your position. Biggest hurdle for DIY person is how to empty the R134a before opening up the compressor for a simple process. Local places don't cooperate by providing "partial service."

This makes sense. It would explain the abnormally high readings, as well as why the AC blows cold air when I rev the engine. I do not have a gauge to check the high pressure side. I'll have to inquire with my local auto parts store. I'll also see if they have the capability to drain the AC system for me. If not, I'll find a shop I can talk into doing just a drain. (This might be one of those times Proverbs 17:8 is appropriate!
