Default another 2000 Jaguar S type trunk mystery item

I found this plastic cover in the trunk/boot with the identification code, XR83-17A835-A embossed on its inside. I have looked around various Jaguar parts sites and been unable to identify it. There are three pop rivets taped to it and there are three mounting points on the piece.

It is about one foot by three in dimension.

Any ideas as to what it is?

Bob

It's the front license plate mounting.

Default that makes sense

Thank you Norri. I am guessing that since this car is from Edmonton there has been no need for a front licence plate till now. I will have to decide whether I want to mount it or not. Really a bit of a spoiler for the front view of the car.

I think Parksdale is in British Columbia, which is a two plate province. How have you gotten away with no front plate?

Easy Mike, I haven't really driven it yet. I bought it August sixth of this year and have been [1] fixing the driver's seat and [2] finding the source of a quiescent battery drain. I won't drive it in the winter and I will avoid rain if at all possible.

I have driven collector cars without the front plate mounted but with the plate inside the car if I were to be stopped by police. But this is a different animal and I will have to have regular plates on it. I will probably end up plating it according to B.C. law.
