Another auto-leveling headlight question
I have a 2003 s-type and my auto-leveling lights only cycle up about 25% of the time when I turn them on. The rest of the time they are pointed correctly or the left one is too high where other people are flashing their high beam lights at me. Sometimes tuning the lights on and off severtimes will help and they will align themselves. Sometimes turning the car off and restarting then turning the lights on will do it. What should I check for to resolve this problem. Do I need to lubricate the adjusters or hit a relay with a hammer? Where do I start?

You both can solve your auto-leveling headlight issue by performing our forum member and tech guru "BRUTAL"'s auto-leveling fix. Search this forum under "Auto-leveling headlight repair" and you will find what I performed in 1 minute to solve the same issue...Just screwing a 1 1/2" screw at an angle through the auto-leveling sight glass into the auto-leveling gyro. The screw will also act as a manual headlamp elevation adjuster.

I don't know that the lights are supposed to run through the up-down cycle every time you turn them on? Seems like mine cycle like yours, every 3 or 4 times I turn them on. I noticed when I'm close to a wall (like my garage) the lights usually won't move but if I'm in an open area (like a parking lot) I can clearly see them cycle up and down. Not sure if that is by design or just my imagination?
Anyway the screw-fix does not address the problem you are having. Are you sure the left one is only sometimes pointing too high? Maybe when it's high try adjusting it down to be level with the right and see it that fixes the problem.
