Default Battery Age? Could it be 12 years

I seem to need a new battery, its fails in very cold weather and I am getting the usual dash indicators (Park Brake fail). However, when I opened up the trunk on my 03 SType, it had a Jaguar battery with 0224 stamped (top right across from the Pos term) as a separate set of numbers into the case top. Could this really be 2002 the twentyfourth week? It that a record for battery life? Just wondering? Thanks in advance.

When the battery was moved to the trunk their life span really improved.

Many people have got 10+ years out of the factory battery so I don't know if you have the record but you certainly got your money's worth.

Yes you do need a new battery!
