Default Best Settings for the Premium Sound System

Hey everyone I have a 2005 S-type 4.2 with the premium sound system... Im 17 so I do enjoy my music a little bit louder than most Jag owners would, haha, but I am scared of blowing the speakers of this great sound system. I usually keep the bass level at 5,treble at 7, and subs at 7.... What is in your opinion the ideal settings to sound good but also not to blow the speakers. Has anyone blown their speakers in their S type?

Thanks!

gavin, you put her on pretty high settings, the likes that the sound is very likely distorted, and high volumn can blow em out. When cruising in my 03 STR, the bass and treble are set at +3, and +2 on the sub woofer. The ears are very delicate. Take care of them now cause there is no corrections that can be made save hearing aids.

Well, I also enjoy my tunes pretty loud having grown up during the 60's & 70's. LOL. I don't know if someone can tell your ears what sounds good.

It's excessive volume that will blow the speakers, not b/t settings. Just fiddle with it till you get a sound that suits your type of music.

As an aside, I've noticed that a black S-Type pouring out heavy industrial goth music really turns heads

Haha no goth music here and surprisingly ive never heard distortion so far sitting in the back or front. It is true that its personal preference was just wondering if there was an "ideal" option for the settings levels.

Yes and no. It's not the actual volume that blows speakers. It's overpowering them and exceeding mechanical limits by generating to much heat or having the motor structure , cone or surround driven past their intended limits. Or and actually probably more common is "clipping". Which is over driving the amp so instead of nice linear sin waves, it will chop off the top and bottom of the wave which can accelerate the heat or mechanical limits of speakers much quicker then just over powering them.

This does tend to happen at higher volume as you need to reach the thermal, mechanical or voltage limits of the amp or loudspeaker to cause damage.

Set DSP to rear only. That will cut down on the distortion that's created by those sub-woofers in your rear shelf. I suggest getting a bazooka tube or the infinity Basslink. Either of these will be a significant upgrade from the existing sound. Trust me when I tell you....
