Default Can I add newer S-Type Chrome Accents to a 2003 STR?

Hello, everyone. I am a new member and just took posession of a black 2003 S-Type R that I bought online. It's at the Hollywood, CA Jag dealer right now, getting a checkup and oil change.

I thought I was going to have trouble convincing my wife that this was the right choice for my new car but to my pleasant surprise, she is really into it. And to my COMPLETE surprise, she wants to add some chrome and change the wheels on it! She feels it's a little too "black ops," as she calls it.

So my question is this: if I wanted to make some changes, where can I get the front and rear bumper pieces (the ones that, on new models, are chrome no matter what the color of the car is)? I don't know what those are called, I just know that the older S-Types have them (along with the front grill border) in the same color as the rest of the car.

I checked the Jag Performance website and they have the chrome grill but I didn't find any of the other items. Any suggestions?

I'm having the care detailed next week and once it's looking pretty, I'll post some pictures.

Thanks for any help!

You're best bet is to post up your color in hopes that someone would want to swap with you. Grass is always greener on the other side, I personally have chrome and would prefer body colored. Other wise it's probably cheapest to just go to a body shop and have them remove the pieces and paint them.

Thanks Jag and Bacardi, you guys are great. Spoke with the wife and she thinks around a grand is about right.

Not sure where she got the chrome obsession but as long as she's into it, I'm happy. Going with having a body shop do it, might be the best choice unless I hear otherwise from someone here.

Thanks again.

WOW! Does your wife have a sister, because I might divorce mine to find one like yours.
Husband- "Honey, lets spend a grand on the car because the car is missing a chrome touch"
Wife- "Sure sweetheart, but pick up some rims on the way back please, because just chrome isn't enough"

LOL, the wife had a good laugh at this. Yes, I picked right! On the car, that is.

I would try ebay. This is what is one of the chrome parts that you are looking for, right? It uses a 3M double sided tape so it should not be any problem applying it yourself. I looked at their home store page and they sell both the front and rear chrome bupmer molding.Spend that grand on some bling bling wheels. Oh & post pics of the wife too [sm=hiya.gif]

Thanks, Momo, excellent suggestion!

And I doubt I'll convince my wife to let her picture be posted but I'll let you know if that changes! LOL

what color is your car? Perhaps you could get it painted an "acceptable" accent color...Accent color: Silver? Gun metal? Flat or gloss Black?
