Center Consoles
Does anyone know if that center console piece can be changed out??? I was just wondering because I know some of the Jaguar models come with the touchscreen unit in the center console (mine didn't). I thought about switching them out if that's possible.
It is possible, but as soon as I state a price, your mouth will drop and you'll be like WTF? look to spend about $4000 on LABOR ALONE at the dealer. Haven't heard of anyone other than the dealer doing it, and I don't know anyone that's actually done it. They do give that estimate though.
Oh wow... for that much cash, I could probably just trade my current S Type in for the same model with touch screen LOL. Or just get a nice custom setup added on with aftermarket parts for DVD player, GPS, etc.
Biggie is right. I have the touch screen Navi and it's nice, but you could get something better, that has multi media, GPS, and play real dvd for a whole lot less.

No unfortunately it isn't the 4.2. When it came time to get mine there weren't any 4.2's or S Type R's in the area so my family got the 3.0 as opposed to waiting a little longer. =/ It's Topaz though.
Thanks everyone for the advise, does anyone know any aftermarket setups that will match up to the S Type R? Will it go in the same location as the factory setup or does it mount to the actual dash? Does anyone have photos of this done on their S Type?

Do you have any suggestions of which exact model number replaces it? I'm not a big ICE person, so any suggestions would be appreciated before I go out making my own decisions.
You'll have to get the aftermarket radio plugs for an 86+ Ford so that you can line the cables on the Aftermarket navi up to the stock radio harness on the car. Then, you'll have to get a mounting kit that I've seen go for around $50-70. The unit I'd use is the AVIC D3 that is the Double Din and it would cover up the entire space of the stock radio. I have the AVIC N2 and regret not getting a double din, although I got a GREAT deal on it. I don't even remember but I think my wife got it from her boss for like 2 or 3 hundred. Could even be less, I'd have to ask her.
I just looked it up online. It looks great. And that plugs straight in to the stock location? Would I have to change out any of the stock stereo components? I know with my lexus if I wanted to change anything out the entire system pretty much had to be replaced.
Has anyone already done this swap? I'd love to see how it looks on someone else's Jag to give me an idea of what to expect. Also, I'd love to hear how the sound quality is affected through using this unit over stock.
