Default Couldnt fight urge anymore - ordered smaller pulley, high flow cats, and dual res's..

Okay so I promised after modifying every single car I have ever had (including a Mosselman Turbo System powered Mercedes with Carlsson wheels/bodykit/suspension) that I would leave the STR alone. But its low milage and I just have the bug and since I am keeping her for a while...

First thing I did was tint, then I got the window trim repainted, then K&N filter, then I got the side indicaters painted to match the body, then I got the clear Mina Gallery side marker lights (my car is white so it blends right in). I also got a big ol' sound system with Pioneer GPS head unit and other $$$ stereo components (I forgot which bc I am not big on car audio).

Well, this week I ordered the following:

1) New style "R" logo for trunk and fenders (as found on XFR)

2) Mina Gallery 1.5lb pulley (Chris at Mina hooked it up! Call him for special price for jaguarforums.com members only!)

3) Magnaflow high flow cats (parts # 59975)

4) Magnaflow Dual In/Out Resonator (parts # 11378)

Future plans include a cat-back exhaust system (no hurries), painting the wheels a light graphite color (they need refinishing anyway), and ordering a mafioso intake if they are ever produced again, or ordering one from Qwiketz (whichever becomes available first).

Then its off to Palm Beach International Raceway for some 1/4 mile racing

Great choice on mods. I'm running the same exhaust setup and have the same pulley. You'll be happy with the results. I would also recommend the intake elbow from our resident member Qwiketz, I beleive he's having them fabricated now.

Ohhhh I can promise you pics are coming as soon as its all done. Lots of stuff waiting to be delievered and waiting to be installed. I plan on contrubuting as much here now that I have figured these cars out as I did on the Mercedes forum I used to be a moderator on and I will get it dyno'd so we know what these basic performance upgrades do. All within good time (give me about a month and a half).

Very nice! It will be a blast and is very mod friendly so long as you dont go overboard. I finally got mine just into the 11s on the 75shot and am tearing it down for the ported blower etc... Yea I said I wasn't going to do much to this car either LOL.

Send that 11378 back and get a 11385. The 385 has the true flow x technology (lol) and is 3 inches longer than the 378. I dont like the way my car sounds (high flow cats+11378+stock rear boxes) and attribute it to buying the wrong resonator because most website do not distinguish between the two. Check out my video to be sure if you will like the sound on the magnaflow thread.

best of luck, and do post your results, video and dyno, if possible.

rasputin - it was actually your set up that I was copying haha. Okay, I will return the 11378 back and get the 11385 (with true x-pipe). A question for you before I start racking up more shipping costs, would you also recommend Magnaflow resonators between the 11385 and the factory mufflers? I want a quiet cabin for long trips, but I noticed the 11385 is a muffled x-pipe, not sure if its quite enough? Suggestions???

I'm running the 11385, and let me tell you its perfect for long highway trips. There is no cabin drone on the highway whatsoever. It sounds nice on regular acceleration and underhard acceleration, but cruising you can't even tell its different from stock.

What he said! dvsadam, I too would like to know what rear boxes (i.e., mufflers) you are running? Factory? Aftermarket? Please advise bc if they are factory, and you say you dont need additional resonators, then I will not buy any either. Thanks in advance dvsadam!

I'm running the stock rear boxes. So I have the magnaflow high-flow's, the 11385 tru-X res, and then the stock boxes in the rear.

My 03 STR is presently being reverted back to a 2.25" exhaust. Off will come the Borla rear boxes, on goes a pair of chambered (stock-like) rear boxes, with the hopes of eliminating the Magnaflow resonators (pre- mufflers). Does anyone know of a substitute for the stock rear boxes?

+1 - even with my muffler choice, I cant hear it below 1800RPM, and when I do start to hear it, I can barely here it at all. Thanks to Jag's 6 speed, its a non issue.

My issue is I do not like the way it sounds under WOT or from 2500rpm and on. Its not very refined, and would like something more subtle. My vids speak for themselves.

Again, there is no drone whatsoever with my current setup.

You'll like the pulley. It doesn't do all that much for the top end, but it adds torque under the curve where you really need it in daily driving or merging on the freeway. The intake tube does make power across the board but especially the top end.

I currently run the magnaflow mufflers and they have a deep tone at idle that is noticable, but since it's a mellow note, it's not bad while driving around. The blower is louder than the exhaust.
