Is Cyl. 5 the front most cylinder on the left side?
I have two fault codes, P305 Misfire Cyl. 5 and P1316 Misfire Primary Coil Circuit.
Is there a way to test a coil before replacing it?
Would P0305 cause P1316 or is this wishful thinking?

 

Do not look for the info in the large file area because people tell me it is NOT there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chances are the coil is bad and causing both codes. Easiest way is to swap the coil with one from another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the coil.

 

Thanks for the Specs file. It is for years up to 2004. Do you think there is any difference with the cylinder numbers for 2005 4.2L ?

 

It's the same 2002.5 onwards. #5 cyl. is 3rd from the front on the right hand side of the vehicle.
