DCCV replacement - From top or bottom
About to replace a suspect faulty a DCCV in my 2006 V6.
Wondering which is easiest way to access and replace? From above or remove the under-shield and complete from the bottom? Have researched quite a few posts but seems there is not really any preference on this? Welcome suggestions.
Thanks

Gus has a good writeup of the process on an early model:

If the late version is similar, make sure you follow his suggestion to notch the mounting flange on the new DCCV. It makes installation a LOT easier.
03 and subsequent facelift models are reportedly easier. I've done it more times than I care to count on the 03/05 and prefer working from both above and below, with front wheels on ramps.
Rick prefers working all from above. It's doer's-choice IMHO. I recommend underneath for you, OP as your car is in the window age-wise for a radiator tank seal leak (I don't know your mileage, but they spring a leak about 100k-115k, from 9 yrs on) and it always leaks right in front of the DCCV and blows back on it....

I have always removed and replaced them from above with the radiator fan assembly removed for more space.

for me it was also from above with a cold one . radiator and fan still mounted . as stated under 30 mins. mine has the v8 auxiliary coolant pump in the way also . still easy enough . the v6 should be a breeze.
It takes me about ten minutes to remove the radiator fan shroud, but then there is plenty of space to work and I have not had a problem with the DCCV mounting bracket that way.
Whichever way works best for you is the method to use.
