Default Differential Drips

So it seems that my diff has been dripping lub for some time now, I just didn't see the spots covering my parking space =:-0

Does anyone know where the leaks typically come from, the drive shaft seal, or an axle seal?

Took it to my mechanic first thing today, but haven't heard back from him.
Should I expect him (he's pretty good, but isn't experienced with Jaguars) to have any problems?

Thanks

Nope, my guy found that one axle seal was leaking. He got the parts from Jaguar and replaced both sides. Removed both half-shafts and removed/replaced the seals. He then flushed the diff and renewed the lube with synthetic.

All done in less that 6 hours from when he stopped by my house to pick the car up (... I actually picked him up on my way back for a dentist appointment first thing this morning ... :-).

Couldn't be happier

Oh ya, plus, when I can't pick up my car until after he "closes" he'll keep the bill in the office, which is open as long as they are pumping gas well into the evening, with the key on the "key-hook board". I can give my credit card to the guy pumping gas and drive home. The shop is also only a 10 minute walk from my house!!

Final bill: two axle seals (from the local dealer, he had one of his technicians drove over to pick them up...)- $26.40; synth diff fluid - $30; labo(u)r ("correct" spelling for our Brit/Canadian/Aus/NZ friends... ;-) - $400.00.

Couldn't happier. Think I'll keep the car for a while longer...

What???? They pump gas and service vehicles. What a novel idea, I personally have not seen that since the early nineties.
