Do these look like Valet Keys to you??
These are my Jag keys (2004 S Type R). I think these might both be Valet keys. Ive compared them to a pic of a standard key and they are so close it's hard to tell (for me.) Both of these keys will power the ignition and the door keyhole, but neither of them will open the trunk or lock the glovebox.
What do you guys think? Valet or Standard?

By the way - you guys have been SO helpful. This Site is awesome and really deserves Kudos.

Not necessarily. The difference is in the shaft only and has nothing to do with the head or fob.

As for the ones in the picture ... valet key.
Hard to tell from the picture, but the telltale indent at the base of the slope on the tip is missing. That's what makes it a valet key.
There are one of each beside the keyboard right now.
What probably happened is that someone got new shafts cut and copied them from a valet key ... or used valet shaft blanks.

First, that is how valet keys behave. Also check against the glovebox lock as a valet key is not supposed to open that either.

My car only came with one key, so while I was servicing the car at the dealer, they agreed to cut and program a key for me free of charge. I bought the key from Ebay and brought it in. However, after they were done cutting and programming it, I realized they cut it as a valet. I didn't complain since they did it for free.
Just as plums said, the key that the dealer cut for me lacks the base that I have on the regular key.
The red arrow in the picture is pointing at it.
