Default Does anyone use the built in phone in their jag?

I was test driving another 2003 and seen it had a built in phone with the numbers and everything.. does this actually work or does it require extensive programming?

I have it but have never used it. It does say activated if i press the phone button though.
The phone is just so outdated I just don't see it being very useful.

I use bluetooth and the voice activation for the other sub-systems all the time. Wish I had the same capability in my truck.

One thing to keep in mind. All 03 and up cars use the same radio. The phone buttons exist on all the radios yet the actual phone option is not that common in the earlier cars. It is more commonly installed on 05 and up cars with the introduction of bluetooth. Even in those cases it is an installed accessory just like satellite radio. The early cars got a phone module with a hand set wired into the console lid. The bluetooth equipped cars got the same phone module but a separate bluetooth module replaced the hand set. So, seeing the buttons are there is not an accurate way to tell if the car has the hands free phone installed. The quick check is to look for the separate microphone attached to the headliner on the drivers side between the overhead console and the sunvisor. Just a FYI since this misconception pops up on here on almost a monthly basis.

Jeff,

Can you confirm that the radio in our 2005 models is an Alpine unit? Do you know the model number? I checked with Jaguar Corporate not long after I bought the car and for some unknown reason they do not have access to that information. Hard to believe....
