Are you talking about the body side moulding? Most don't have it. I don't even think it was an option. I think it was added to some cars by the dealers. Also, it may have come from rentals..... Example: The 05 and up Mustang had no body side moulding available except for fleet sales..... Neat trick to spot a rental on a used lot! I do know that while Jag was under Ford, s and x types ended up in rental fleets.

After viewing your pics, I noticed yours. I have been contemplating looking to find silver for my wifes. They really look sharp on yours, plus the protection!! We had ours for less than 2 weeks and had 3 dings removed already.

Yep, door moldings offer a measure of protection against stupid and inconsiderate morons who fling their doors open and don't give a crap what happens to the car beside them. The moldings don't stop all door dings, but they certainly prevent their fair share. I've been thinking about finding a set for our S-Type but haven't pursued it yet. Don't want anything that will change the look of the beautiful lines of the car, but having that extra bit of protection is worth the addition in my book.

I always park far, far away from everyone else and don't mind a long-distance walk as a result. My wife is not as considerate of the vehicle. She's better about it than she used to be, but she'll still occasionally grab the first parking space she finds. Our S-Type needs the door molding for her, not for me. I think I'll spend some time looking for appropriate molding over the next couple of days. If any of you have already found a good product, please share....

My wife is very concious where she parks, but here in S.C. its really the numbskulls that put the parking lines soooo tight to get 1 more vehicle parked in the rows. I agree with whitestype, in my eyes it completes the lines around the body.
