Same here. Sometimes the sensors get blocked by leaves, dirt or snow or some other debris.
Mine usually goes back on after a restart also so I just leave it alone. They may be able to get a code from it!

Mine is exactly the same, touch wood I haven't seen the warning for a month or two, but before that it would show up every couple of weeks and clear on a restart.
I wouldn't worry unless it is happening often.

I have seen the "DSC not available" flash for a few seconds and disappear. I have also see it with an "ABS fault" message. Makes me a bit worried to see any of these messages. However, I can live with the "Cruise not available" message I get a few times a week.

ABS Fault and DSC Unavailable was flashing back and forth for about 10 seconds as I left the parking lot today. After that stopped the Cruise Unavailable turned on for the duration of the drive. I think my jag is sensing a bad winter up ahead.

If you have ANY strange electrical stuff going on the first thing is to check the battery and connections. All new cars with high electronic content must have full battery voltage. Get a load test done and consider how old the battery is. Even batteries that test good can give problems.

Good point. I've been meaning to service the battery. Do you think adding distilled water will aid my 3+ year old battery? I'll need to look around for stores that carry this size battery ($$$). From what I recall, this isn't an ordinary size battery.

If you find the correct battery anywhere but the dealer please post it to the list!! I can't find the correct vented battery except at the dealer?

I got mine at either checkers or autozone, can't remember which, but it had the correct vent and slipped straight in.

This is what I found on the Interstate battery website:

MTP-H8
Mega-Tron Plus - 85 Months - 720 CCA

http://www.interstatebatteries.com/c...nths+-+720+CCA

You can try to find a local shop and haggle the price down. $200 for a battery is a bit much.

Great find!! I wonder if its any cheaper at the dealer? $200 is way more than I have ever paid for a battery!! But this is my first Jaguar too!!

I was curious about these vented batteries so I spent some time searching the web sites from NAPA, Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, and a couple of other parts retailers for appropriate batteries for our particular S-Type. Most of these sites had at least one battery that matched our application, and they typically retailed for between $110 and $130. I'm accustomed to paying about half that amount for good-quality replacement batteries, one of which is still going strong after more than 7 years in my 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up....

If I find better pricing elsewhere, I'll post it here. Our 2005-model battery is still performing well, but I wonder how long these factory batteries typically last here in our relatively moderate climate....

I hope your are right!! I also have a 2003 Lincoln LS. I searched everywhere and they had a listing but when I got to look at them NONE of the aftermarket batteries were correct. I finally went to Ford and got the correct Motorcraft battery for $110. The vent was always wrong and then the guy would try to tell me it was alright to use the aftermarket one even thought it was NOT correct.
Norri was that a Jaguar dealer?

No, just a regular autoparts store, I'll check which one if I remember and try and dig up the receipt, it fitted right in and hooked up to the original vent.

Never heard of a car battery of ANY type lasting 20 years. I would expect 5 to 7 years for a good-quality battery. Sure hope you are correct, though....

I hope the car lasts 20 years, never mind the battery!

Well, I'm not sure of the plate composition of the factory installed battery, but found it neat that it has cells that can have water (distilled) added. That said, I've worked in distribution for over twenty years and it is not uncommon to have an industrial truck battery last over 15 years when properly maintained using distilled water...So, I check and fill mine, when needed, at every oil change....Then again, I don't plan on having this car for 20 years...
