Default Electrical fault

I've not long bought a lovely 2003 2.5 s type and I've already replaced the battery. The original battery failed a couple of times in the morning and was completely dead. This morning, the new battery is dead too, even though the car is regularly used.

Would any of you kind chaps like to suggest where I should look first? I'd welcome any help here

Your name isn't Basil by any chance.

Anyway, you are probably looking at a parasitic drain on the battery.

Usual suspects,
Check all courtesy lights go out,
Check all doors including bonnet and boot are closed and there is no message saying door ajar,
Check the flap in the ignition barrel is closing properly,
Turn all auto functions off,
Make sure you double lock the car when parked.

Start all these checks after you have a fully charged battery and go from there.
If it is not one of the above then we have to do a little more digging.

Hope this helps,

Woah! That's a lovely quick reply!

I need to get the battery charged first, I've got tools and a charger but will there be any memories lost if I disconnect the battery?

You will lose all memory settings, but before you disconnect the battery make sure you have the radio code.

Sorry jim, I'm Ade, although I'm feeling more like Sybil at the mo!

Cheers for the welcome jim!

Instead of recharging the battery I got a jump start. It really didn't want to start and the alarm kept cutting in! Eventually got it going and took it round to Kwik fit where I got the new battery a few weeks ago. Had it tested and both battery and charging we're fine! Gonna have to trace that rogue drain somehow now...

Thanks for the help thus far
