can you go through the ski's holder in the arm rest? also how does the key open your door and not the trunk, is it the valet key?

Apply power to the connections available in the engine bay, that way you will be able to open the boot with the release button.
The key that opens the door should also open the boot, you are probably not turning it far enough or the lock is stiff through lack of use, which is normal with these cars unless you operate it manually every so often.
