FINALLY GOT MY JAGUAR S-TYPE R THIS CAR IS SICK !!!!!!
So I picked me up a 2003 Jaguar S-Type R with 66K miles, Black Metalic, Cream Interior, DVD Navi and with Jaguar Select Edition Warranty til 10/30/08, for $16500 Out The Door incl Taxes too. I wouldnt buy one of these cars without the warranty period. This car is really fast. I like the DVD Navi bc it talks to you too. It will take me some time getting use to my new Jag, since I a Benz guy and thats all I ever drive. The car is really cool, the downside is the MPGs. However I got one problem so far, my Xenons are pointing to the ground, so I must use my high beams for now. Is there any way I can fix this ? Will Select Edition Cover this ? Thanks

Welcome, and glad to see that your enjoying your "R"! Do you love that smoothe super fast acceleratoin or what? Several people have had this issue with the headlights pointing down including me. I do beleive that it is covered by select edition. Did you buy it from a Jag. dealer? If so I would just call them and tell tham the problem and that it was that way when you got it. I'm sure that they will take care of it!

I bought it wholesale. I love the acceleration, this thing is quick. It drives very smooth not to mention. The best thing about this car is people looking at it. I called the dealer and they said its a rare car, and they only seen 2 in my area.

I've only seen a couple myself except at the dealer and I too get a lot of people mouthing WOW!! when they pass. The R's are very striking. I would call your local dealer to see what they say about the headlights. Mine pointed down when I first got the car and the dealer adjusted them up but they still didn't self level, however, when I took it to another dealer they cleared some codes and when I got the car back they were working and have been fine ever since.
PS. I know what you mean about the MPG's!

Yeah its a sleek car. Im still gettin use to it, since I am a Benz guy. I only keep my cars for 6 months anyways. I glad, I spotted a select edition car bc I was afraid driving this car without a warranty. No problems so, far, I do get some creaking noises from the dash area sometimes, but thats it. This DVD nav is a treat too, still trying to operate the system. Much better system than Benz navigation which is non touch screen. I just love the supercharger screaming when taking off. This is my first Jag.

It may not be your last. I bought my first about 15 years ago and now this is my 3'rd. I would have trouble driving anything else. Mine creaks a little too. I think it's because everything is so tight. It's better in warmer weather.

Well Im only 22 and I have had a few Benzes since 16. This is the first Jag. Im not a Bimmer Fan either, but like Porsches but too expensive. But I bought this car for the great pricing and options too. I was considering a Benz C32 AMG with 44K Miles for 21K, non certified. So I bought the Jag for the great pricing. 400hp is amazing.It took me one month to locate one I could steal it for a good price. $16500 incl tax is a steal especially since its certfied too. The options incl xenons, brembos, parktronic, dvd nav isway better options than the Benz plus less money. I dont have to worry about the depreciation hit either, I seen a few sell at retail price, even one with 96K miles for $14K. I guess its because its a rare car. I love its rarity.

Thats it I Officially love this car, I dont miss my Benzes one bit at all. Jaguar is the Best Bang for the dollar period, plusmore features. However this forum doesnt do too much talking so I found an alternative forum also which has more info

Awesome! I really wanted to get an "R" when I bought my S-type but I didn't want to part with the extra money. If I could have gotten the deal you did then maybe I would have!
I recently had the same problem with the headlights. It wasa fortune to fix it. The headlights are $900 US each! That being said, you may have a different problem. My extended warranty picked up the cost and all I paid was the $200 deductible.

I don't know about your warranty. I have the Easy Care Extended Warranty. When you call them you should see if the Auto Leveling mechanizism is covered. First you may want to have the dealer check it out to see if that is indeed the problem. They said that the gears on mine were stripped. I read about someone else whose problem was a computer malfunction and all they had to do was reset the codes.

Ok I will give it a shot though. I see some used Bi-Xenons for S-Type on ebay going for cheap. From $50 a pair with broken tabs, to $300 a pair. Is that a good deal ?
