Default Was a fun ride but sold my Jaguar STR

Time to say good bye to a lot of wonderful and helpful forum members.

Was truly a great time meeting and talking with a number of you at the drag strip over the last few years.

I've sold my 2005 STR for $3500 -- the asking price was $4900 on craig's list. The car had several issues: paint on hood and roof had faded, door ajar error, no AC, curb rash on wheels, steering wheel was worn and the radio sounded horrible...

Below is the majority of the CL's link. If you'd like to check out the details of the sale you can copy and paste the following link into your browser and then add ".html" at the end and it should work for another few weeks...
washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/d/soldsupercharged-jaguar-type/6318801571...
(don'f forget to add .html after pasting the rest of the link)
Hope this is not breaking the rule(s).

Not sure what I am getting next... Likely a CTS-V or M5.

- CTS-Vs have similar characteristics with the power down low like modded STRs
- I've test driven some stock and modded E60 M5s. Huge power surge is felt at and beyond 4,500 rpms. One was truly amazing with full exhaust (headers, x-pipe and high flow mufflers), CAI and engine/trans tunes. This was by far the quickest car I've driven. Have not seen dyno sheets but likely 575+hp at the wheels.

Default Exhaust Clip: Sold Jaguar S-Type R driving away...

Here's an exhaust clip of my STR as it was driven away by the new owner.

I'm not sure what I'm going to miss most, the torque or modded exhaust??? No. I'm sure it'll be the trips to the race track and seeing people who were dumbfounded as a 4-door Jag held its own running the 1/4 mile.

Sorry to see you go Bryan, best of luck with whatever you go for next. You shared a lot of valuable information here in terms of modded STR quarter mile and dyno data which I'm sure a lot of members benefited from. I copied your mods knowing you had proven results!

I too am looking at potential replacements for my STR, but have not sold it yet as it has just been so reliable the last 4.5 years never breaking down even once. I have test driven an XFR but also considering the e60 m5. That V10 at full tilt just sounds unbelievable! I am weary of the maintenance and SMG issues though. Do update us with whatever you go for!

Sorry to see you go Bryan but once a Jaguar owner, it's usually 'au revoir' and not 'goodbye'!

I've added a JPG of your CL listing so it's still shows in this thread after the original has gone.

Default Saying hello again! Join me this Sunday at two fun events...

It is good to be back among friends!!!!!

I've had two sedans since selling my much loved and enjoyed 2005 Jaguar STR.

First, I purchased a 2014 BMW 550 M Sport with 37k miles. This was a very comfortable and quiet sedan. I did take it to track and achieved several runs at 12.6 second runs at 111 mph. Unfortunately, my wife was in a minor collision and my insurance company ended up totaling the 550 M Sport. The good things was that my wife was not hurt at all during the low-speed crash. I shopped for weeks to replace the 550 but could not locate any single owner, 2014-2016 550s M Sports that I liked and had no accidents.

After looking for another couple weeks, I ended up starting to look at BMW M5s too. I located a 2013 M5 with 45k miles, no accidents and still had a BMW certified warranty until April of 2019. During the first week of having the M5, I installed new front and rear rotors and brake pads. Then I had new front 265/35/20 tires and rear 305/30/20 tires installed. I took my family and friends to Maryland International Raceway last Sunday. Unfortunately, I only had time for two runs. During my first run, my transmission somehow popped into neutral ...so my 60' time was over 3 seconds but still ran 12.9 seconds at 116 mph. Next run was 11.8 seconds at 120 mph. The M5's turbos really kick in at 75 mph!

You are all welcome to join me this Sunday. I plan to be at Burtonsville, MD Cars and Coffee from 8AM-9AM. Then I plan to go to Capital Raceway racing from 11 AM until around ~ 3 PM.

Sunday, November 4

Sorry to see you go! Nice to see someone who races too.

I went with a 2014 XJR after selling my 2005 STR for ...wait for it!...$3500 too!

Pulley and tune. Putting 530HP/540 TQ to the rear wheels.
At the Texas Mile last year I ran 122 MPH in the 1/4 mile and almost 175 mph in the mile.
Hope to run the quarter mile for time sometime too.

Hoping high 11's but probably low 12's from what I have seen.

I hope you told the buyer of your STR about the Forum. Perhaps he will join and we can all help the buyer keep the car on the road. Perhaps the new owner will want to fix the door ajar error.
