having a prob with my new s-type
I just bought a 2000 s-type tonight and it wnt rev past 3000 rpm , it saysfailsafe engine modemode or smething like that .... just wanted to know what was wrong with it .. ?Iread i could need to clean the throtle body, is that right ? Any help would be great thanks!

Sorry to hear that you have problems so soon.
It could be any number of things, your best bet is to get the codes checked and post the results, then I'm sure someone can help you.

Is this during driving or just sitting and reving the engine? Yes there is a limiter that prevents the engine from over reving when the car is not in gear.

ok, i had the codes read and this is what it came up with .. oh and in the middle of driving it seems the gas pedal stops working til i turn it off and start it again .. but as for the codes its p0717 (fuel trim bank one ) fuel system for bank one is to lean ... code p1587 (throttle cntrol unit detected loss of return spring .. code p0174 ( fuel system for bank 2 is too lean ) ... can you tell whats wrong by the info here ? thanks !
