Default Headlamp Interchange

I have been looking for a right lite since mine is smashed. car has the Xenon with leveling. Can you replace these with the plain halogen. It appears I can buy two halogens for less than the price of a Xenon and it doesn't make any real difference to me if they plug in & work.
Thanks

Yes and no.

Physically the halogens will bolt right in.

Electrically they are different.

The Xenon lamps use a ballast / arc discharge capsule (bulb) setup.

The input to the ballast is a standard 9006 Connector.

HID setups also run the headlamps through a headlamp relay, Standard Halogen headlamps don't use the relay, but that's no big deal.

On a halogen setup, the S-Type uses H7 bulbs. If you get halogen headlamps you're going to need the connectors from the H7 bulbs, and are going to have to wire it up yourself.

PM brutal btw, I know he has a stock of used headlights, so he may be able to hook you up.

Take care,

George

Thanks will do. Sounds like I better keep looking for the correct one. The left one apears to have the flop. But thanks to this site I see how to fix that.
