Headlight Auto Sensor Malfunctioning?
I have a 2003 4.2L V8 S-Type and when the headlights are placed on auto the lights permenantely stay on. Can it be the sensor? If so, where is the sensor located. Is it the one attached to the rear view mirror or is that just for the auto wipers?
mcervantes7, welcome to the forum.
First off, you should follow forum rules by introducing yourself in the "New Member" Section.
Secondly, is this a new problem, new vehicle to you? Has it done it in the past? Your vehicle may have DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), US version vehicles are not programmed for that but Canadian vehicles are.
I believe the sensor is located in the rearview mirror.

The rear view mirror came off the windshield one day I was driving the car. I had the mirror reinstalled. For about a month the auto headlights were working properly but now they are on all the time if I set it to auto.
I can see a sensor behind the rear view mirror is this the sensor for the auto sensing headlights, the rain sensing wiper sensor, or both? I'll try cleaning it. Hopefully this works and I don't have to replace the sensor.
