Default Headlight Retainer Spring Clip - 2003 S-Type

For posterity I wanted to make a post on my experience with the spring clip/clamp that holds the 2003 S-Type headlight bulb into place.

When changing the bulbs I popped one of the spring clips too hard. It dislodged and bounced right into the engine compartment, where I assume it is there to this day.

Like many others on this forum I tried to purchase the clip from a Jaguar dealer, a part store, anywhere, but they can not be purchased separately. Only by purchasing a new headlight assembly at $600+. I even went to a couple of junk yards with no luck either.

Desperate for a fix I went to Google Images and purchased a half dozen spring retainer clips that looked similar and low and behold I found the match.

A "standard" Spring Retainer for an H7 bulb that fits current model VW and Audis. It cost $8.

I purchased mine at ECS Tuning <ecstuning.com> . Below are the specs in the event the company is not around when you need the part:
  • Mfg Part# 1J0941160
  • ECS Part# ES#310758
I hope this saved someone from the headache I had from this!
