Here's a piece of advice, sometimes you have to just no when to stop competing. I understand you want to whoop that m3, but you have a fast car right now, and say you put a few hundred dollars into tuning it, and maybe you beat that m3. But then an m5 comes along, and then a corvette or somethign. You see what I'm saying.
but you should definatly put up some pics. I guess I'm not the luckiest 17 year old on this forum if you have an S type.

Losing to an E36 M is nothing to be ashamed of.
M3 = 333hp in 3408lbs = .098hp/lb
Jag = 300hp in 3865lbs = .078hp/lb
Then consider the M3 has a 6 speed manual....so probably losing about 10% of that power to the wheesl..your AT will lose about 20% to the wheels.
Don't feel bad...I've never beaten and M3 in my car either. []
Posting pics...create an account at Photobucket.com or Flickr.com...upload your pics...then link them here by clicking on the little yellow box with the mountain and sun in it. Try to resize them to 640 x 800 if you can...otherwise they take forever to load.

Underneath the big section where u type it should say click here to upload, and you can just upload ur saved photos. Also click embed picture in post if you want.
How much horsepower does ur car have, it's not the 400 horsepower one is it. You're ride should be pretty fast, I know you have the real good 6 speed mercedes tranny right?

Welcome, and congrats on getting smoked! It'll happen again and again if you think that S is too powerful! Then again, I beat an 03 350z, but it was auto and the chick driving it was giving me **** about her car being full of **** and on a full tank of gas! HAHA, I still took her! Now I have a V6, so I'm slower, but it's fun if you don't start getting cocky and whooped by cars that are OBVIOUSLY faster! Don't be messing with the M's man!

Ya...guaranteed thats a modified S60R though. Evolve body kit...so maybe a full Evolve performance tune. There's several ECU reprograms out there that take advantage of the boost controller and remove the torque limiter that comes stock in 1st and 2nd gear. There's also a H2O injection system that many of the owners put on. They can get into the high 12 second range with a few $$$ on goodies.

Well...one of the biggest companies in the US provides a "soft loader" unit, which you connect to the diagnostic port and can upload a stage 1, 2, or 3 ECU remap right from your laptop. That's $1200 US. Downpipes for the turbo are always about $1000. The H20 injection system is about $600. With those 3 things, an S60R should be able to get from a 14 second 1/4 mile time down into the high 12's.
Past that, there are additional front mount intercoolers people sell...and other mods, but not very common. There are a few companies that do full cat-back exhaust systems, air intake kits, springs, body kits, etc. The most famous performance companies for Volvo are Evolve and IPD.
Evolve does more show than go...but they do ECU tunes and exhaust too...most people have seen their body kits around before...
