Default Help!!! Problems with my 2000 jaguar s-type 4.0

My jag check engine light came on about 2 months ago. Did a check and it said 2 cylinders missfired. After a couple days it went off. Periodically it would come on and go back off. Recently it came on and stayed on. After getting it scanned from 3 different computers i be came very confused because it gave different cylinder missfires each time. The car was running fine. Only idling badly, and sounding like a motor cycle while runnung. I change the spark plugs. Cylinder 6 missfire. And engine coils. It continued to show cylinder 6 missfire. I had the fuel injecter switched wit cylinder 2. Continued to show cylinder 6 missfire. I had a compression check done, and it passed. The car starts up and runs like a motor cycle and shakes badly when hitting the gas. It jerks and sputters. And when in idle and im mashing on the gas the care soesnt rev up like it supposed to. It does almost nothing. What could be the problem???

Bfsgross, exactly what wires and plugs need to be replaced, and how much will dis run me if yu know? Also could it really be old wires and plugs dats causing my car to make puttering noises and jerking and hold up of the engine??? Not to mention while in idle the car won't go pass 2 rpm when mashig full pressure on da gas...

I have the same problem.
After changing coils on one side and all spark plugs it disappeared for a while.
After 2 weeks the rpm was going up but speed not and jerking begins again.
It helps before you put on D first go on 2, feel the car shifts and then on D.
I wonder if this is transmission?

statue, I think you're on a totally different issue there my friend. If it idles and engine RPMs are steady, the car is not misfiring. You'd know it if it was. Yours is definitely transmission related.

kingjay, apologies, I now notice you changed the spark plugs. Was this performed prior to or aft of the misfire? You still haven't changed "all" the wires. Do this since you now have new coils and plugs. Now coils and plugs are new and presumed to be performed correctly. Time for the wires...which should have been checked and replaced first. They are likely the originals and chaffe and crack, causing the spark to ground...not fire the cylinder. Check back.
