Friday afternoon my local dealer put a new hood pad in my 06 S-Type under warranty. When I got home, I popped the hood to check it out. When I shut the hood I discovered that neither hood latch would engage, even, if I slammed the hood fairly hard. Sunday, I finally got some time to work on the car. After I cranked the hood bumpers down and adjusted the hood latches down as well, I finally got the hood to latch shut. I'm about half afraid to let the idiots at the dealership mess with it (They actually broke the windshield in my 06 X Type - trying to get the cowl snapped back in place). It looks like the hood pad is correctly installed, but, I don't understand how they managed to mess up the hood latches. Anybody else run into this problem.
