How do you change out the windshield wiper on the s-type with the recessed wipers?

This has been asked and answered a lot of times. Basically, there is enough place to do it where it is. Otherwise, pull out the respective fuse when it is in the upright position.

I'm not a fan of the pulling fuse method, if your careful you can do it without removing the arms but it's just as easy to remove the wiper arm nut and remove the arm, I'd recommend marking the wiper position with tape so you put them back on in same position

not a problem to change them, the biggest problem is finding another that fits. So, if you have the same problem, remove the old ones, and save them. replace with 6mm wiper refills on your old wipers. I found this to be the easiest way to get the exact fit

Although this question has been asked and answered (somewhat) a bazillion times I'm still at a loss WHERE to get the proper replacement arms for my 2005 S-Type vehicle. IF anyone can post a link to which companies can provide that would be most useful. In my own searches I can see that Anco states they make a blade arm that fits both sides 24" and 19" but can't find a retailer here in the North East USA. So once again if anyone can provide a definitive link to a retailer or website I'd be most interested. Thanks for any help.

Based on the earlier comprehensive thread on this topic I decided to try PIAA silicone wiper inserts. 94050(20inch) and 94060(24inch) are the inserts that fit my factory wiper arms. You will need to cut the 20inch insert about 1 inch each after install to ensure no interference with the side of winshield. I used 8inch diagonal cutter to cut through the silicone and metal inserts in one shot.

Both are available through amazon.com for about $11 each.

I don't know how they perform yet but expect great results based on other users of PIAA wipers.

Default OEM Wiper Replacement For 2005 S-Type Jag

Finally, after much searching and reading of previous posts I just gave in and took my car to my local mechanic. When I mentioned I need wiper arms he said "No problem, we'll order them from Jaguar." As it turns out the exact OEM part for the car is a mere $24.00 per arm. My mechanic installed for free. The beauty is it comes with the washer attachment already on the arm. They just had to pull the hose and replace. Plus, for those do it yourselfers you can find the OEM part on Ebay for around the same price. Much easier than I thought it would be. Hope this helps those interested.

I've owned my 2005 S-Type for nearly six years and I've been pleased with the wiper blade inserts that I order from NAPA. They typically last me a year or two and they are very inexpensive. They're scarce because my local NAPA store never has them in stock but they always get them by the next day whenever I phone my order in....

The drivers side is NAPA part no. 60-2401 and the passenger side is 60-1900. I typically order two sets at a time just to have them on hand when I need to change them for our annual North Carolina safety inspection. The last time I ordered, each set cost me about $11 total....

I just went online and used the part numbers you have and I couldn't get it to bring up any parts. IF you could send me the link where the part number is listed that would be great. Thanks.

cyberlinks,

I don't use a link. I just phone my local NAPA store, specify their part number for each blade insert, and ask them to order a couple of sets for me. They typically call me the next day to let me know that my order has arrived.

Sometimes older blade insert part numbers eventually get superceded by newer ones, usually when the supplier or manufacturer changes. I've had that happen with other vehicles. Unfortunately, the new part number was for a larger claw-width blade insert that didn't fit my vehicle, so I had to find something else. These narrow 6mm claw-width blade inserts that our S-Types require have definitely gotten more difficult to find during the past few years. Be aware that if you decide to replace the entire wiper arm as a unit, you may be moving to a larger claw width. Whenever you order just the blade inserts, you really have to check those measurements before you commit.

I hope NAPA can still get these narrow S-Type blade inserts. Guess I'll find out the next time I attempt to place an order. I still have one new set left. I will install them in mid-December just prior to the car's annual safety inspection so I should be good to go through 2015 and perhaps well into 2016....
