Default How to take the coolant overflow tank out?

Hi all,

Been trying to figure out how to take the coolant overflow tank out and can't figure out how to get the clip off the bottom connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, J

Welcome to the forum jwhitcraft,

I've moved your question to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

It can be a pain. There are two bolts securing the tank to the body. One under the strut tower trim and one behind the tank on the structure.

Disconnect the lower hose at the aluminum heater tube and pull it up. It will bind up against the windshield wiper grommet.

jwhitcraft, not clear what type/model you have! (hint....hint)

But if you pull out the clip on the tank lower connection, as shown. The hose lower shown pull out of the tank.

To refit.

Replace the clip in the hose connection as you have removed it and once the hose is in place on the tank. Pop back the clip into the hose connection fully.

Test the hose is secure? by giving a tug downward.

The important thing about this job............... Is do not drop the pin!

To add to this. When you start the car let it warm up with the hood open. That wire clip connection is hard to clip in correctly. With the hoses attached it will look like it's latched even when it's not.

At least two people have burned up their engines (Including one STR) when they just started driving after installing the top tank. If the fitting is not latched the car will lose so much coolant so fast that you won't even know it until it's all over!
