Default How to tell if S-Type has BT audio

I have a 2005 stype 3.0 and it has a phone set up but when I press the phone button with the stereo off to pair it, nothing happens. Nw hen the strereo is on and I press the phone button, it says no phone, the only thing that happens when I press the ##1#*# is the one button utilizes the radio preset. Do all 2005 jags types have BT phone set up or could mine be made to plug in and then uses the cars speakers and mics

No phone means just that. You'd have to source and retrofit all the components and still end up with an antiquated system.

If your car was equipped with the Bluetooth module at the factory, you will have a microphone near the overhead console:

I have mics all over the car and the car stereo has all the phone buttons.

Also, if you go with a newer unit, would it still use all the mics and stuff or would those have to be re-run

First of all, the 2005 Jaguar BT module does not support audio streaming; so if you have it, you can pair your phone and make and receive calls, but no audio streaming. Find the phone module manual (possibly available in the stickies) and read up on how to pair and connect. For audio, you need a separate device, the Audio Connectivity Module (ACM) which does not support Bluetooth but will allow you to connect an auxiliary device to the head unit via 3.5mm jack, USB, or Apple interface, IIRC.

Mikey is still correct, it is an antiquated system, what changes is you do have the functionality available if your car has both modules already installed; whereas if you don't; it is not really economically feasible to add them, given what they provide.
Not sure what you have with "microphones all over the car;" AFAIK, the factory Jag system fits only one microphone, in the overhead, just off the console on the driver's side, as pictured above. Maybe the NSA got ahold of your car first?
