Hi,

I have a 2003 S Type R, the emergency brakes need to be re-calabrated upon replacing pads, perhaps yours is the same. I picked a JTIS DVD, original, from a gentlement from England via e-bay.uk,was cheap.

Good Luck,

Roger

when you installed rear pads did you aligne the **** on the pads with the opening"s on the caliper piston screw
this will cause issues with the park brake calibration
ive seen more then a couple of times this being the culprit after independant shops have installed rear brakes on 03 and newer S Type"s
also make sure ebrake cables are not broken at the ends where they attach to calipers
plastic securing tabs at ends of cables will brake when brakes are installed incorrectly
hope this helps

You said ****!

Cajun, disconnect battery. Reconnect and you will get the meassage saying apply park brake. Do that, the disconnect battery again and repeat 4 or 5 times. What this does is apply the brake until it is at full range of travel and will no longer see a fault. Have also had a bunch of 2006 S's with bad park brake module.

Default I AM A BRAKE EXPERT-THANK YOU FORUM

I AM "IN MY MIND" A 2006 S-TYPE PAD REPLACING EXPERT...... NJC "NOT JAGUAR CERTIFIED"

ibjags THE **** [sm=icon_quiet.gif]ON MY PADS FOR MY JAG WHERE ON THE OPPISITE SIDE OF THE PAD AND WERE
THE WRONG DIAMETER "I CHECKED" . I ALSO CHECKED THE CABLES - LIKE NEW

fjt YOU CAME REALLY , REALLY CLOSE IT ONLY TOOK ONE DISCONNECT OF THE BATTERY CABLES
TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM

SO LESSON LEARNED:

1)YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO BUY THE FRONT PADS TO A 2006 S-TYPE FROM JAGUAR
2) NO SPECIAL TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO PUSH THE CALIBERS IN
3) IF YOU DO REPLACE YOUR PADS "PAINT THE CALBERS RED"LOOKS REALLY COOL
4)REPLACING YOUR PADS IS A GOOD TIME TO CLEAN YOUR RIMS.
5) WHEN YOU REPLACE YOUR PADS YOU WILL GET A ERROR MESSAGE SAYING "YOU HAVE NO EMERGENCY BRAKES"
6) YOU MUST DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE "WAIT A MINUTE, CONNECT THE CABLE BACK UP
TURN THE KEY ON, YOU WILL GET A MESSAGE 'APPLY THE BRAKES AND EMERGENCY BRAKES"
APPLY YOUR FOOT BRAKE THEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE . . . . . . [sm=wootwoot.gif]POW , YOU NOW HAVE EMERGENY BRAKES

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

The "****".....nice.....are on the opposite side from the factory. First one I did I didnt pay attention and put them in the way it appears they should go. Man it came back in two days rattling like crazy......a bit odd if you ask me. I wonder if that is why 06 rear brakes wear out in 20,000 miles?

fjt . . . the **** [sm=icon_quiet.gif]"i always smurk when i type that" are confusing. Even for a Master NJC
"NOT JAGUAR CERTIFIED" Tech. like me.

Really makes no sense they "Jaguar" would put them on the pads. If you did not know any better
they look like they "the pads" would go in the oppisite way, they are suppose to. Had me second guessing
myself. But when I looked at the old pads you could see where the piston had left a mark inthem. To me
they serve no purpose.

Not as much weight that was onmy shoulders h20Boy,

I little side note. A member on a previous post had a picture of his Jaguar with bluerunning lights.
That's what I call them. And I never got round to tracking them down. But while in a O'Rielly getting my 3rd
set of wrong pads I was walking the isles an found the lights.

Installed them yesterday . . . . and they look really ccooolllll

I will post pictures later.

THANKS
